When you grow up with the last name Lipps, it makes the world a place that demands a sense of humor. From Kindergarten until this day, toddlers to full grown adults, none can handle that my last name is Lipps.
It's not a stoic name, or one that comes with lineage or prestige. It's a working class name from as far back as we have traced it (to about 1650 in Alsace, France/Germany, depending on who won the last war).
I grew up with that sense of humor and grain of salt attitude in various places across California, and at times, England. The son of a Paleontologist, I was encouraged to explore the world. Traveling with my father was part of that exploration and I have seen over 22 countries and travelled extensively since. I try to let that inspiration and sense of humor guide m writing style.
I attended San Jose State University and earned a Bachelors's in Advertising with a creative focus. During that time I developed a passion for writing, having had several classes in the Journalism side of our Mass. Comm. department. Several professors encouraged me to follow that passion.
Having written for AOL, Bay City News and other local publications I have carved out a space for myself as a blogger for KLAT.com and a freelance writer for content driven websites, an emerging trend for web publication.
